The project is presented today, in conjunction with an exclusive capsule collection dedicated to Maison Valentino Essentials at Maxfield, in Los Angeles from the 11th until the 30th of January 2023.

The new Maison Valentino Essentials project is a reflection on the men's wardrobe, through the vision of the Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli, who explains and explores the essential pieces that compose it, contemporary masculinity, its essence and its meaning for the Maison. Reduced to the essence, tailored blazers, bermuda shorts, foulard blouses, coats, pajamas, suits and Valentino Garavani accessories express both timeliness and timelessness, turning into tools of nonconformist, individual expression, into uniforms of non uniformity, representing a versatile and changeable Valentino wardrobe.
Maison Valentino Essentials are in fact identified through shapes and structures, becoming iconic. These key wardrobe pieces are already present in the Valentino collections, available in boutiques and worn by international celebrities.

The volumes, the colors and the proportions of clothing are the spaces where a body, of any gender or form, lives. A reflection on the creation of a new space, with a known structure, that can be explored by everyone.
During the past twenty years, men have changed because the male figure, after centuries of immobility, has been put on the hot seat by the new role that women have taken on. This is the positive change that needs to be narrated. It is a way of being yourself. It is the most interesting thing that has happened in fashion in the last 20 years. Before that, freedom only seemed to exist in music (David Bowie). Looking at subcultures, Pierpaolo Piccioli looked at men’s fashion through actors such as Mastroianni in Italian movies.
