In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the TEFAF Museum Restoration Fund, for the first time ever, a recipient’s work of art will be showcased in a special exhibition at the fair. The Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, one of this year’s recipients, will display Poplars near Nuenen, a phenomenal painting by Vincent van Gogh from 1885, before the work undergoes restoration.
LACMA UNCOVERS THE TRUTH AND BEAUTY OF THIS BOLIVIAN PIETÀ WITH RESTORATION
Discover how the TEFAF Museum Restoration Fund supported the restoration of the first Bolivian painting to enter LACMA’s collection—Pietà(circa 1720), by Melchor Pérez Holguín. When acquired in 2019, the painting was hidden by considerable layers of yellowed varnish and grime as well as discolored restorations.
